Thursday evening, a great day to take the family out for a ride, hit the local pizza spot then ride back in the dark. There are my two boys off the front!

My eldest son. Had to convince him to come ride, he didnt want to wear shorts or any riding gear, heck I didnt care, I was just happy he came with!

Ok these Kids are the ILLEST!!! My family knows how to have a good time, its obvious.

The previous sunday for mother's day, I took my 2006 winning season Fetish cycles bike and converted it to single speed for my lady. She wanted it single, and I had to oblige. Here is a shot of her carving up the single track at wekiwa springs state park in apopka. I had a lot of fun on this trail, we plan on going back.

Nature. I dugg all the different habitats we rode through. My theory is, if you can hike it, you can bike it.

Now this shot dont look like much, but in this particular area, the terrain was rolling. I was on top of one rolling hill peak and I took a picture across of my girl and Magii riding off. Now magii is climbing to the top of the other rolling hill, my girl was at the top.

Here is the cropped up shot, can you see magii, can you see my wife. Pretty cool, that they were in the other shot, but it was such a vast expanse that you couldnt even see them.

Nice trail right, there are jewels all over the place.

Eventually we had to roll out after 12 miles. While on the road taking a shortcut back, the park ranger pulled up next to us while we were rolling to ask us what was up. For a split second I felt like I was in the tour de france. Here is us flying downhill.

I'm so, Jealous.

For the past several years, Team bike works Orlando has dominated the 12 hours of Tsali, till 2007 when we did not three peat as expected.

This year, The team is back to fighting the good fight and I am confident that one of our teams will win today.

I'm so jealous. Although, Tsali is a very touristy and easy trail to ride. It still offers some stress free riding and some great views and some good back road dirt road and trail riding in the area.

I wish I was up there, but circumstances are what they are, and here I am.

I was planning on winning the 12 hour sport category, Next year, I WILL for sure.

Cant wait to hear what happens.

Its not what you think, OK maybe it is, Making a train on the urban singletrack (sidewalk) towards the first dirt section.

In the first dirt section, getting our hammer on. We rode hard and fast most of the day.

We came around the corner on the first stretch of dirt roads and saw this Peacock out with his feathers in a full on fan, we came right around the corner and Rob almost could of crashed into him. This was the best pic I could fire off.

Finishing the first dirt, waiting for stragglers, it was shortly before this that the riders learned what simulated climbing was aka, soft sand slogging.

Into the second dirt section we stopped to wait and this guy just walked up to the fence.

Then it was my turn.

At the first "sag" stop, we ate a little, refilled on water, others drank some soda.

Into what some people called their favorite section, the Rail Road Track service road. The pictures don't do it justice. Its a lot harder then it looks. There that small dot, is Sandpine fixing his flat.

Up close shot, I hate getting flats, hey Sandpine, next time put two and a half scoops of stans in your tire.

There is Brian, making his way to the downhill turn off the rail road service road. Dude is relatively new to long rides. And he still came out and did close to 40 miles on his single speed.

There you go, how nice, it goes forever, its actually fun, especially at night, can anybody hear the rocky theme music, I do, every time I ride this.

Off the tracks into Blue springs, waiting for everyone to consolidate again.

This is the little downhill off the track, Sandpine, chose the careful way down, if you ask me its more dangerous to walk it then to ride it.

NK100 uPdAtE 2

Was out late marking the middle section of the course. Its going to have some fun stuff, but this section will have some hike a bikes, some seriously draining double track, and the last 1.5 miles of the rail road service road are brutal. But, its nice. And its marked. By my calculations I got two more sessions of marking to go, one by bike and one by car.

I did find a terrific gem. Apparently the county has been hard at work and they have built a new cement bike path that goes along my route. In fact it links Orange City to Deland Perfectly. I stumbled upon it last night, rode it almost till the end. Investigated its start location and I look forward to incorporating it into future rides. As for the NK100 it will be in there, just a small section that actually works much better then the original route, more scenic and a little better in terms of continuity.

Should be a good ride. I'm starting to think some people are going to get their butt's kicked this Saturday.

Two more things, for those that didn't know, this is an OFF ROAD ride. Although we will ride on the road for a good 20 plus miles of it, there is no way you could do this on a road bike and if your a good cyclocrosser you could do it on that type of bike.

Nk100 uPdAtE.

Been out doing some trail marking. Still got some more to do, but I figure the night time renegade way maybe the best way.

My Lady, Has never ridden the newest section that I found two weeks ago and we went out together to mark it and ride it.
This the profile for the first 17 miles. I wanted to show my wife the newest section that pretty much led to the connection and the breakthrough that helped make this rides route logical.
By the looks of it, the profile makes it look like hard work. I assure you, its not as bad as it looks.

Picture this!

The Ergon pack, loaded with the portable trail cutting trail marking kit. The pack gets my thumbs up and I recommend it for anyone that needs a pack that can seriously get your back in any situation.

You will see this sight at the NK ride.

After lunch, the wife and I took the short cut thru the woods and followed a single track I spotted out the corner of my eye. Presto Bum village! You will not see this on the NK ride.

While navigating one of the two single track portions of the loop, I was ducking under an enormous tree and the tree clippers got caught. The bag ripped and unstiched. I don't fault the pack though, I don't think it was designed to carry an item poking out the top of the pack like I had the scissors this day,

I finally, got my lady some women's specific shorts and saddle from Specialized. Did a little imitation wobble naught fit and she said its the best she has ever felt on the bike.

News and the latest from the Edge..

I was going to go on a Night ride tonight. Love this ride. While loading my Mamasita on the roof rack, in the process of closing the Yakima skewer it broke my negative air pressure valve.
I am officially fork less.
As soon as it happened I didn't have time to think. I jumped in the car and took it to my friend. He is going to slap on a rigid fork, so I am going to be riding rigid for awhile.

In other news I finally pulled the edge data for the past couple of rides.

I figured some of you may want to look at the data from the Cohutta 100. Click on the link and rifle thru the dashboard. Interesting notable is my 40mph top speed dirty descent, that's pretty damn fast!!
I will post pictures once I got the bike rebuilt rigid.
BTW, good luck to the all the Warriors heading up to PMBAR. If the weather report holds true conditions will be Brutal, hope everyone comes out safe.
