In Fact, once Mucaro Mtb dot blogspot dot com and I arrived at Stumpknockers to start my mans work mission. That's what I had been calling it all weekend, was MAN's BuSINess. But the Bird's were chirping when we got out of the car, and the air was cool as we pedaled up to the gate, and hopped itIm an outlaw
The Hell Track was not so Hellish, and we were both feeling pretty good and laughing. And that's about how the first 30 miles went. Laughs and fun, and just good joyous adventure. It was those Last 17 miles that took me down into a deep spiraling pit of heat and disgust and suffering that I call the pain cave.
It started with my Tummy. I guess all the Beeretardness from Friday night and the beer from Saturday night, combined with the lack of sleep made for a not so good combo. Almost felt like Luis was lecturing me, Eat man, eat... Whatever. So I cut it back, then right after Vortex the Knee was hurting, worst ever in fact. SO I cut it back. Luis told me I didn't have to finish, but I needed to map this thing and I had to get it done.
So 17 miles later, some pushing, lots of patience and even smiles thru the pain, I finished my mapping, relieved that it was over, wondering how the rest of the folks would enjoy what was to come.
The Dirty DanO course is EVERYTHING that Santos has to offer. Every piece of trail, routed in a very creative manner. There is Gnar, there is Chunk and there are wide open spaces. There is adventure and there will be hike a biking, cause you will get tired. I hope those that toe the line, toe it with the goal of doing the entire thing. Yes it will be closer to 97 miles than 100, but I don't think you will be complaining when its all said and done, and the food will taste just as good and the beer will be just as tasty.
Hope to see you out there!!!
Take Care,
Laters,
The NaKeD InDiaN
