CFiTT news Update: IMPORTANT SPREAD THE WORD.

Competitors.

There will be a riders meeting 5am on October 10th to make sure everyone has this information.

This course was laid out and was initially done as a TOUR and that is the tradition that will continue.

Riders will be forced to have FUN. Sorry, it is the nature of the event. In order to be scored accurately for the event some items for confirmation will be required and will allow future riders to help track their progress and scoring. In order to do this riders will have to have a camera.

At Silver Glenn, you are required to video tape yourself, going for a swim in the infamous glenn. Get a receipt of payment of entry fee as well.

At the Lake Eaton loop you are required to take a self portrait shot from each of the overlooks.

In the town of Eureka get a picture of the fire station on the course.

At santos, get a picture of the main information kiosk located at the trail head.

In Pruitt, get a picture of the pruitt memorial.

Get a picture of the Haltapaki reserve sign as you enter that part of the course.

Get a picture of the Canal as you start to ride next to it.

Get a picture of the big Caboose on the withlacoochee trail.

Finally, get a picture of the huge watch tower located at the tucker hill trail head.

Key element is to figure out how to get your camera to time stamp the pictures, not a huge deal.

There will hopefully be support from spot for the race and that will aid in scoring, but the picture and the mandatory sight seeing is part of the EVENT.

Hope you can appreciate the spirit of the adventure.

Finally and this is important.

The marshall swamp section of the route is considered to be part of the florida trail and is foot traffic only. IN this section racers are required to either A. Hike threw till you get to the bike path that takes you to the baseline trail head. or B. Take the alternate, which means you take 314 to baseline road, hang a left and then ride till you past the trail head and are back on the official course. Its up to you which route you take, but you cannot RIDE your bike threw the Marshall swamp section as it is part of the Florida trail and it is Foot Traffic only.

thanks,

The NaKeD InDiAn

I assume that mean 314 to skip the Marshall Swamp section. Is there any way that going through the swamp on foot would be faster than riding around on pavement?

I will share the info I measured.

its 2 mile hike to the bike path. 6 mile ride to baseline trailhead.

SO, those 6 miles on that section of Baseline road is pretty undulating, and you may be sick and tired of undulating after being in the forest for 8 hours. SO, that being said, you may want the break of the hike. Im not 100% which one I will do first, but im leaning towards the hike, the leg stretch may do me good and its a beautiful little section.

Its strategy.. I dont honestly think, that little bit will make or break the race.
